Poor Southern Sergal siting in the Sailzane desert.

Sailzane(セイルザーン) is the greatest desert zone of Tal. Salt Lake ColVilous and Gold Ring are located on the south part of this desert.

As "Sailzane" means "the white sea", colors of rock and sand are almost identical to white. Soil includes salts in the underground, there is no rich source of life but also a lack of many hostile creatures.

Environment

There's few creatures that likely be threat against Eltus people, but because there's edible ingredients is scarce, it's hard to survive in the desert for people as well as desert creatures.

And there's deep sandy fields and possible blowing sandstorms, it makes preparing of artificial road hard. Due to this, laying lines down on the desert environments of the Sailzane is very difficult, there will be no railways going outward from Gold Ring to foreign countries / nations such as Reono or Shigu for a long period of time. Thus, the Eltus people use caravans with carriages for transport across the desert in the meantime.

Wildlife

Compared to grasslands or woods, very few living organisms populate the desert and among them can be found huge and monstrous creatures, such as "carrion clams", sand worms, small leeches, "little-finger shellfishes", and dondokos desert subspecies. See also:Tal's Wildlife.

As common features, those desert creatures are generally not directly hostile to Eltus people, apart from dondokos. A small animal that is familiar and friendly to Gold Ring citizens like hamsters have originated from Sailzane desert as well. However, there's still sometimes cases that indirectly cause trouble by their behavior like sand worm's case.

Almost all of those creatures are classified as Talyxian, but are similar to the Eltus species of the shellfish nature and have biology that protects them from drying out and salt exposure. Many other Talyxian creatures living in the desert seem to share this similarity.

There's few natural enemies for each them, but because food is scarce, their populations are generally small in number and spread out.
