Nevrea

The festival in northwest, Western sergals and native nevreans.

Nevrea(ネヴリャン) is the land located on the west of planet Tal, and is the homeland of Nevreans. Most of this area is taken up by the Nev mountains(ネヴ山脈) that the nevreans see as their home. There are only Nevreans as Eltus habitater, but there were some sergals that corresponds to Western sergals in northwest area until RC 28.

This area is not urbanized, and native nevreans living in this land have very unique and unparalleled culture that is totally different from that of the other Eltus races, and strict formed gender roles.

This land is national seclusion-like exclusive place, have maintained civilization of their own for a long time, most of them did not know a foreign country and other races at all. They never acculturate, never do intercultural exchanges with other country, and will be keeping their culture as unalloyed condition until the time of the end of planet Tal.

They are continuing living in only nevreans for a long time, but people who were living in northwest area had the interchange with Western sergals until Shigu army invaded the western lands. Some nevreans who were close to sergals took refuge in the southern lands with a few Western sergal survivors after the genocide in western lands by Shigu, approx the year 28 in Rain-Calendar. Afterwards, such refugees led to Urban nevreans.

Native nevreans culture

They pursue a traditional lifestyle with gorgeous opera performed by only males culturally, and very unique and unparalleled love romance style. Their own opera is filled by males gay romance mainly, and all actor males follow the classic story, formed role and manner which are given to each ones. Males 'acting' for love romance have no distance to everyday life from role and story on the stage of opera, then their romantic songs and talking between each males usually reach to out of opera. They even begin intention of their feelings of romance against each other from the stage of decide the casting. Male gay romance is major and basic theme for opera. There's also plays that express romance between females, yet even those case, a casts are composed by only male actors.

As for unisex culture, there's a bow and arrow as another primary tradition. It is important usage for females especially.

Their isolated culture means they almost unable to use the official language of planet Tal. They have their own language, even though their usage of proper words is unclear. It it is most likely based on their version of poetry and music. And they convey all of information by speech, their language culture don't have a written language hence there's no lyrics and musical score in their songs. They perfectly understand each other, and pass on knowledge and culture through oral traditions just like Earth's Ainu or Aboriginals would. Also the combination of colors of the feathers and the pattern of the dance by males sometimes have a meanings, and it can play as one way to tell something.

There's common idea of "Judda" in cultural sense, but it has different concept and role from Judda system of Gold Ring. (details are written at the later section)

Their sexual culture is totally different from other race, they never act sexual intercourse for fun in any case. Their sexual intercourse is strictly carried out for reproduction only, and every behavior and expression from romance between males kept as clean and chaste thing due to their culture sense. (details are written at late section)

Society

Females have come to value the males socially, and not just as partners. They consider this treat as cultural virtue and most important factor for keeping peaceful days; always give a liberal life to males, and keep males being able to flap their wings with the glitter. - Males beauty is considered immortal in their myths and legends, the soul of beautiful males is said to be undergoing a glittering transformation and revival upon their death.

The occupations that they can take are depends on each strict gender roles that have been formed and defined from ancient times. Males basically take the front position of the stage of entertainment like opera and chorus. In contrast with it, females work on technical jobs for usual life while taking the position of the backstage.
 

Native females

Female Native Nevrean who just became an adult

They definitely work on serious roles; health management like keeping meals and safety for oneself and one's husband, gathering foods, hunting, taking care and sharing of livestock, taking care of eggs and children, protect everything against dangerous creatures, and endeavor to keep males performing arts activities eternally, along those workings.

Their ability is very superior for those activity for usual life. Since they have built a settlement on a rough spots like mountainous area and cliffs from ancient times, they can build very complicated fixing structure on various terrain by their skillful group work.

They follow the rule for females - "Females should be reticent as cultural virtue, and talking to males without important message should be rude manner." And between females can share one's thoughts or feelings via tacit understanding. It is mainly composed of the great respect for each other's husband, and it is why females can strongly cooperate and share the same values what is most important, with other females.

They basically have no freedom they choose for fun, especially that their freedom to fall in love romance has prohibited due to their culture sense. Specifically from this rule, females can't send voluntary love words to males in any case. Instead of it, females can enjoy to view males gay romance that can find from opera and scene of daily life. This function come from the own system of native nevreans; females project oneselves into males that have every freedom, then females get the vicarious fun through imagining actual feelings that males enjoy. Further, females have been respected as a full-fledged member who can support to keep a fine culture for the first time when accomplished marrying with one's destiny male. Because a married female is considered to can perfectly empathize to one's husband by a thinking own male as 'the another body of oneself'. And those female are considered to can enjoy opera more deeply, and understand true value of males. The marriage can be said to be the forever promise to males from females - "I entirely respect my male's every personality, and i will support its every activity forever". The another view from this, one's husband can be recognized as its wife female's 'another personality'.

Native Nevreans follow a specific ceremony marking the females’ transition into adulthood. Learning that they will be unable to fly in future, their wings are cut as a rite of passage. Feathers cut during the coming of age ceremony are used to fashion an arrow that will be of special significance to the newly adult Nevrean.

They fully take a audience side for the every entertainment like opera, songs, and music. They never appear on the stage of opera as an actor. But for great chorus, females also join to it, but they will work to set the rhythm with their lower pitched voices and percussion performed with their beaks while entrusting main melodies to males, and sometimes give idea for composition of music.
 

Native males

They culturally play romantic roles; actor for opera, singer, dancer, and just choosing pleasant and freedom way like being fond of pleasurable activities and falling in a love romance with other males.

Since all of regular males naturally have beautiful and adorable appearance and behavior, they can unintentionally provide an entertainment for females by the action of playing around innocently with other males. Especially their opera and songs are most important for peaceful native nevrean society, they devoted to keep and improve one's excellent performance instinctively, even if they never be asked. They always create new dances and words for romantic songs one after another, and enthralled their audiences females with those brilliant expression.

The situation that can hear their songs and beautiful talking voice everyday is desirable form of society. Due to this, they inevitably learn a song, and enjoy daily talking with their very high-pitched falsetto. Especially their talking manner is too active as well as excessive, they even take the initiative in voluntary speech than wait to hear responce.

The existence of males can be valued as the only entertainment for Nevrea culture, their freewheeling and footloose behavior in daily can make fantastic and romantic vibes easily. And it greatly play the function of spiritual healing for females who have contrasting roles. The most featured one from this is every scene of their gay love romance. They mainly show it in their opera story, but their romantic behavior like talking and singing also extend to their usual life, then females can enjoy males gay romance anytime even if out of opera.

The relationship of males gay love and the marriage with female is considered totally different role strictly. Because of this, they enjoy love romance between males without any hesitancy even if it is a married male. And its wife females also greatly enjoy to see the situation that one's husband is falling in love with other male.

That male get to be projected from female is considered to be the existence like 'avatar' for its female. Through this system, every males can bring the 'virtual pleasure' for females. And its relationship and a function can become to fully work when male married its destiny female. Moreover, a married males be given more important role in a cast of opera, but except Judda male because is stipulated to be unmarried for a lifetime.

Male's gay romance is close to their opera's contents, and it is premised that they act it at a public place. But, it never have sexual intercourse at any place. This implies that there is no homosexual sex between gay nevreans in natives.

Procreation and sexual intercourse are a work for females completely. Only the male and female who became the pair act it in the non-public place.

The thing which expressed the males' gay romance in contents of a song and the opera exists traditionally.

Religion and law

Military leader females and Judda males are cast as religious leaders and icons respectively.

The native Nevreans' traditional lifestyle is considered a form of law. Those who deviate from cultural norms are vilified by most. Especially they evade robbers, consider them as example of double-dyed villain. They have little awareness of the existence of Gold Ring or those nevreans who choose to live there.
 

Great chorus

Music and song are considered the foundation of their culture, during these performances, the males will traditionally provide the melody with their high pitched instrumentation and voice, while females will set the rhythm with their lower pitched voices and percussion performed with their beaks. When a soprano is not enough, they add the musical instrument such as the flute and substitute it.
 

After the attack by General Rain

Due to the fact that the Shigu Clan was lead by the General Rain and that she had shown very low interest in Nevreans for some reason, most of them have been safe from attacks of said clan; some skirmishes did happen but the Nev Mountains did not get invaded and remained in the hands of its original inhabitants. Though, after Rain's attack, all alliances of Natives and Western Sergals completely disappeared.

Some Nevreans who were close to Sergals took refuge in the southern lands with a few Western Sergal survivors. They are the first Nevreans whom they visited to Gold Ring. Therefore they will become Urban Nevreans afterwards.
